Confirmation

“Jesus breathed on them [the disciples] and said” ‘receive the Holy Spirit’” (John 20:22)

Confirmation completes the grace of Baptism by a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit which seals or “confirms” the baptized person in union with Christ and equips them to live their Christian faith confidently, compellingly and compassionately.

Together with Baptism – always the first Sacrament – and Holy Eucharist, Confirmation fully initiates the person into the Church.

At St. Alphonsus & St. Joseph, our eighth graders are confirmed by the Bishop or his representative in the spring of the year.

Adults prepare to receive Confirmation through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) which is celebrated at the majestic Easter Vigil.
